Elo TouchSystems expands its CarrollTouch family with new LCD desktop touchmonitors

July 22, 2004

FREMONT, Calif. - Elo TouchSystems has expanded its family of LCD touchmonitors, according to a company news release. The monitors feature the company's CarrollTouch next-generation infrared touch technology with the addition of enhanced versions of the company's popular 1229L 12" LCD multifunction and 1525L 15" LCD desktop "designed for touch" touchmonitors.

The Entuitive 1229L can be configured with up to three integrated peripherals including an ergonomically placed magnetic stripe reader (MSR), a biometric fingerprint recognition device and a rear-facing customer display.

The Entuitive 1525L desktop touchmonitor comes with a specially designed stable base that can be bolted down, side controls that can be locked out in public, clean cable routing, and a locking hinge to ensure protection in high-traffic environments.   The new 1229L and 1525L touchmonitors with CarrollTouch infrared touch sensors are targeted toward a variety of applications in the retail, hospitality, medical, gaming, and amusement markets where customers will benefit from the increased brightness, clarity and durability of Elo's infrared touch technology. Both touchmonitors are available with a serial or USB touch interface and agency approvals for sale worldwide. CarrollTouch: Calibration-free, clear and colorful

Elo's next-generation CarrollTouch infrared touch technology features a low-profile bezel with nearly pixel-level touch resolution and no parallax; it operates in extreme lighting conditions.

"Using CarrollTouch infrared technology means that the 1229L and 1525L are virtually calibration free, providing a stable, drift-free operation for a touch response that's always accurate," says Paul Wiener, Elo's marketing manager. "Whether the monitors are free-standing on a countertop or wall mounted with their built-in VESA mount, adding Elo's CarrollTouch infrared touch sensors to these popular touchmonitors produces an attractive display with a bright, clear, sharp, and colorful image."   Elo chose to add its CarrollTouch infrared sensor interface to the 1229L and 1525L touchmonitors because the clear glass overlay provides one of the highest light transmissions in the market. "There is no compromise of image quality or color purity," says Wiener.

Elo's CarrollTouch infrared touch sensors also offer a wide range of input options -- including finger, gloved hand, and credit card -- and they have a unique co-molded construction with the bezel, which offers a seamless watertight seal.   Integrated USB Hub

"Both the 1229L and 1525L LCD touchmonitors offer multilingual remote on-screen display (OSD) and removable base as standard," says Wiener. "The 1229L 12" LCD touchmonitor also features an integrated USB hub with two available USB connectors for direct connectivity to peripherals such as scanners and printers."
