FREMONT, Calif. -- Elo TouchSystems Inc., global provider of touch technology and a business unit of Tyco Electronics, has launched its solution to providing all weather touch technology on a truly flat surface.
The new Entuitive 1547L 15-inch LCD touch monitor uses the latest projected capacitive touchscreen technology with a choice of Elo's own DirectTouch or ThruTouch options, according to a news release.
Elo's 1547L with projected capacitive touch technology is suited for outdoor and through-glass public access applications such as ATMs, Web phones, ticket machines, pay-at-the-pump gas machines, virtual shop windows, outdoor kiosks, and gaming and amusement bartop games.
Elo's projected capacitive touch technology is resistant to vandalism and scratches and unaffected by rain, snow, ice, or dust, the release said. And like all Elo's family of touchmonitors, the new 1547L with projected capacitive touch technology offers stable, drift-free operation that can be activated by a finger or gloved hand.
"Elo's new projected capacitive touchscreens are based on technology that enables the touch to be sensed through a protective screen in front of the display," said Mark Bolt, Elo's product manager. The 1547L with the DirectTouch option includes a 7.8-mm tempered glass surface with a watertight minibezel, while the ThruTouch option designed for use behind a customer-supplied glass or other protective surface, and does not include a minibezel.
Because the ThruTouch option does not require a bezel, it can be designed into a system with a true flat-front surface. This is an important feature for tabletop and bartop applications, ticketing machines, and other outdoor systems.
