Building on the success of a pilot launched in 2018, the Commonwealth Edison Co. has added two touchless kiosks in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood to offer residents access to a WiFi hotspot and local real-time information, such as weather, transportation information, neighborhood events and emergency alerts, according to a thegatenews.com report.
The company will clean and maintain the kiosks as part of its Community of the Future initiative which includes sustainable energy solutions.
The kiosk pilot began in 2018 through a partnership with Interactive Kiosk Experience with a kiosk at the corner of 35th and Dr. Martin Luther King Drive that remains there today.
