NEW LENOX, Ill. - Public Internet access kiosk provider EKiosk Corporation has acquired Internet-based security solution InterNetStation from UnionBancorp Inc. (Nasdaq: UBCD), a regional financial services company based in Ottawa, Ill.
The stock-only transaction gives UnionBancorp Inc. equity interest in eKiosk Corporation, currently equal to approximately 3 percent of eKiosk's outstanding common stock. EKiosk has trademarked the user authentication system under a new name, MyID.
By providing the consumer with a personal identification number that is used at points of sale or service delivery with a credit card, MyID provides additional security to online sales.
MyID technology can also be used for ticketless entry into venues such as sporting events, movie theaters and concerts -applications that eKiosk is exploring for MyID technology.
MyID is also designed to make eKiosk terminals functional business tools for Fortune 1000 companies, whose message servers sit behind firewalls. Using an existing credit card, users are authenticated by the MyID database, housed in an ultra-secure data site.
