A kiosk called Ecopod, located in select Miami residential buildings and grocery stores, allows consumers to fill their own containers with cleaning products, liquid laundry detergents, soaps and shampoos, according to a local10.com report. The customer lifts the door, places their container and presses the button.
A 92-ounce Tide laundry detergent retails for $18.99 at the Westchester Sedano's on Bird Road and Southwest 87th Avenue.
The only name brands currently dispensed are Tide and Downy, but more are coming. Most of the products available are under the Nuve brand and are eco-friendly and made in Miami.
The kiosk is available in 24 locations in Miami-Dade County, but the company delivers throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Miami real estate developer Henry Pino developed Ecopod to help reduce plastic intake.
