ecoATM recognized for sustainability innovation in food retail sector

ecoATM, a company specializing in automated electronics recycling kiosks, has received the Sustainability in the Food Industry Award from The Shelby Report for its contribution to greener retail practices, according to a press release.

The company operates kiosks in grocery and retail locations where consumers can safely sell or recycle used smartphones and other electronic devices. Each kiosk evaluates the device and offers instant cash, helping reduce e-waste and promote responsible reuse.

"ecoATM is honored and humbled to be recognized for our service," said Neil Fried, senior vice president of corporate development. "Our mission is to help reduce the amount of electronic waste that enters our environment."

The company reported collecting more than 50 million devices in 2024, preventing an estimated 25 million pounds of e-waste and keeping hazardous materials such as lead and mercury out of landfills.
