Electronics buyback kiosk operator ecoATM and nonprofit One Tree Planted are expanding their Earth Day efforts into a monthlong initiative aimed at promoting sustainability and environmental restoration, according to a press release.
During April, the companies plan to plant 50,000 trees across North America, linking the effort to increased consumer participation in recycling electronic waste through ecoATM's kiosk network.
Earth Day, first celebrated in 1970, is an annual global event focused on environmental protection and sustainability. It falls on April 22 each year.
The partnership's initiative is designed to connect responsible e-waste recycling with broader environmental impact. By encouraging consumers to recycle old devices, the partnership seeks to reduce electronic waste while supporting reforestation efforts that improve air quality, restore ecosystems and help mitigate climate-related damage.
As part of the campaign, the trees will be planted in areas of Canada affected by wildfires, aligning with ecoATM's recent expansion of its kiosk footprint in the region. The effort underscores a growing trend of pairing automated retail services with environmental initiatives to drive both awareness and measurable outcomes.
Company officials said the collaboration is intended to increase engagement during a period of heightened environmental awareness, while reinforcing the role of technology recycling in sustainability efforts.
The campaign also highlights the potential for kiosk-based platforms to serve as convenient access points for environmentally focused consumer actions.
