Allegheny Times: Beaver County voters heading to the polls for the primary election May 18 will have municipal races to consider, as well as a familiar paper-voting system to navigate.
Instead of a touchscreen voting system, county voters will be using black pens to mark paper ballots as part of the optical-scan voting method last used in the county in May 1998.
A citizens group successfully petitioned to have the county's $1.2 million Patriot touchscreen system re-examined by the state, which ultimately led to the system being decertified in April after a state examiner determined it wasn't reliable
