Investors and partners are looking favorably on the prospects of revenues generated by DVD-rental kiosks operated by the two of the major firms in the sector, according to several recent articles.
On Friday, Coinstar shares hit a new 52-week high, trading above $63.42, reports TradersHuddle.com. Coinstar shares have established a trading range of $44.41 and $63.42 in the last year. Coinstar executives have said their goal is to install 30,000 of its redbox DVD kiosk rental devices.
NCR Corp. is expanding its Blockbuster Express DVD-rental kiosks in Ohio and across the nation, according to Columbus Business First. NCR has more than 40 units in the central Ohio market, predominately at Speedway Superamerica locations. Speedway is a major Blockbuster Express partner, with 651 kiosks in the Midwest, while Safeway has more than 1,300 kiosks, and Publix Super Markets has 1,000.
NCR officials have projected the overall U.S. market at between 40,000 and 60,000 kiosks.
