DVD kiosks force Blockbuster to offer some 99 cent movie rentals

Contactmusic.com: In an effort to curb its losses to DVD kiosk operators like redbox, Blockbuster is cutting prices on some DVD rentals. According to Contactmusic.com, the brick-and-mortar DVD retailer will soon be renting older movies for 99 cents a day, compared with $1 redbox charges for new releases. "The 99-cents plan is targeted at the value-conscious consumer in this challenging economy," said Jim Keyes, chairman and chief executive of Blockbuster. Click to continue
