Dutch company adds Washington Post to newspapers available via kiosks

March 20, 2003

THE HAGUE, NETHERLANDS -- The Washington Post is the latest newspaper to be digitally distributed via kiosks by a Dutch company called PEPC Worldwide.

According to a news release, travelers can use the kiosks to print hardcopy editions of their favorite newspapers. (See related story Read all about it)

The kiosks are located in hotels, airport concourses and convention centers in 24 countries, according to the release.

Currently, 115 titles from 47 countries are available, including USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, Mainichi Shimbun (Japan), La Stampa (Italy) and Die Welt (Germany).

"By distributing the newspapers electronically rather than physically, PEPC is able to offer The Washington Post out-of-market availability on day A," said Rob Dorpmans, PEPC Worldwide's chief executive, in the release.

"Despite emerging new information technologies, people still value a traditional newspaper that they can hold and carry with them," said David Dadisman, The Post's vice president of Circulation.
