Dutch airline trials self-service luggage check-in

Reuters:Dutch airlineKLMis trialing a self-service luggage check-in system at its base atAmsterdamSchiphol airport. The system is designed to reduce waiting times and is available to passengers who have checked in online or at a self-service kiosk. Customers place their bags in a machine and scan their boarding passes before using touchscreens to answer the usual security questions. Luggage is weighed and labels are then printed out for passengers to attach to their cases. The trial, which will continue for the next six months at Schiphol airport, is the first of its kind in the world, a KLM spokeswoman tells Reuters.
