Dubuque to test smart parking kiosks

November 25, 2019

Dubuque, Iowa will test smart parking meters for the second time, with plans to install the meters in the 700 and 800 blocks of Main Street, according to a KCRG-TV report.

The city council has approved a pilot program, which will allow users to pay with coins, credit cards or phone. Users will enter their license plates on the kiosks.

Renee Tyler, transportation services director, said the 90-day pilot will be done with IPS Group, Inc. There will be no cost to the city for the first 60 days.

Tyler, who hopes to start the pilot in January, said this second pilot was arranged to allow the city to determine its options after testing kiosks with MPS in October of 2018.
