Dubai Metro deploys trip planning kiosks

April 4, 2010

Dubai's Metro transit authorityannounced yesterday it has deployed 10 kiosks offering its Wojhati trip planning service. The move is intended to encourage more residents to use the public transportation system, which includes trains, buses and water buses.

According to Eisa Abdul Rahman Al Dossary, CEO of the Public Transport Agency at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, the free-of-charge trip planning kiosks offer real-time information on buses and trains, and can provide details such as total time and cost for a user's planned trip. Users can access the service through any Internet connection as well as the kiosks, which are located in shopping centers and transit terminals around the city.

Al Dossary said the kiosks, which offer services in Arabic and English, are the first of a larger deployment that will place kiosks in more shopping centers and other locations throughout
