Travelers in Dubai will now be able to take advantage of bill payment kiosks, free WiFi, phone charging kiosks and more. The Roads and Transport Authority has transformed 100 bus stops into smart stops with these technologies, according to a report by Gulf News.
At the smart bus stops, users can pay water and electricity bills at a kiosk, send remittances, refill their international mobile phone balance and get airline tickets. They can also use a kiosk to charge their mobile phones, purchase electronic ticketing cards, or refill their card balance.
"At this stage, we have installed 100 Smart Shelters. We will study the customers' feedback on the service and identify areas of development," Abdullah Yousuf Al Ali, CEO of Public Transport Agency said in the report. "Once we are satisfied with the service, we will consider additional locations and will commence the implementation of the second phase of 400 additional stops."
