The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security has implemented self-service kiosks to issue driver's licenses and ID cards featuring new designs and enhanced security features, according to a report by The Rogersville Review.
TDOSHS intends for the kiosks to reduce wait times at Drivers Service Centers, eventually making the kiosks available at each center throughout the coming months.
The driver's licenses and ID cards also feature enhanced security features like overlapping of data and graphics as well as laser-engraved elements that are difficult to reproduce.
"The new Tennessee driver licenses incorporate the latest technology, which makes them more difficult to counterfeit, alter or duplicate," TDOSHS Commissioner Jeff Long told the news outlet. "These countermeasures help prevent theft and fraud and help keep your identity safe."
