Dolch unveils industrial touchscreen unit

May 7, 2002

FREMONT, Calif. - Rugged industrial computer supplier Dolch, on May 7 announced the launch of SafeTTouch 4X, a touchscreen workstation designed for restaurant and pharmaceutical production settings.

The unit, available in 15.1- and 18.1-inch LCD displays, is a completely sealed, stainless steel workstation. Company officials said the SafeTTouch 4X is designed to withstand bacteria and cleaning products.

"We've designed an operator interface solution tough enough to withstand extreme temperatures, humidity, and high-pressure caustic hose-down cleanings," Jim Ciardella, Dolch president, said in a news release.

The SafeTTouch 4X also includes Dolch's RayFire digital fiber-optic videos and data transmission systems, which allows the unit to be located separate from the system's PC. Company officials said this would allow users to place the unit in a rugged environment without running the risk of damaging its operating unit.
