Display Werks unveils screen for digital-signage apps

August 13, 2003

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Display Werks Inc. announced the availability of a new 40" AMLCD for the digital signage market. The active matrix liquid crystal display is one of the largest in production, and is touted as an alternative to plasma.

"This large-format display rivals plasma technology in picture quality and, most importantly, longevity," said Mark Harriman, president of Display Werks. "Because these displays use liquid crystal technology they consume less power, have a longer back-light life and are not as prone to image burn-in like plasma displays. These issues are critical for the digital signage market."

The display offers a 40" diagonal viewing area with a 16 x 9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels, according to the release. One version of the display will include a built-in PC for networking and running local client applications.

Display Werks is also offering different mounting options for the display, including a wall-mount bracket, a full-wall enclosure, and a portrait-mode freestanding enclosure that can house a PC. The list price for the display is $6,000.
