Digital camera sales and photo kiosk use increasing

December 15, 2002

JACKSON, Mich. -- Photo kiosks are in some 40,000 retail stores, up from 36,000 stores last year, according to an article in the Dec. 13 issue of The Detroit News.

InfoTrends Research Group Inc. predicted that American digital camera sales will reach 9.5 million units this year and increase to 18.7 million units by 2007, according to the article.

The Photo Marketing Association, an industry trade group, estimated the sales of film cameras fell 25 percent during the first seven months this year and processing dropped 8 percent.

Gary Pageau, head of research for the Photo Marketing Association International, based in Jackson, Mich., said he expects more kiosk deployments as consumers become more aware of them.
