Detroit will update more than 500 parking kiosks and add another 300 kiosks, according to a Crain's Detroit Business report.
The new kiosks will be added to existing parking zones and to gaps along city blocks.
The service will include an upgraded mobile app to allow motorists to search for parking spots by events and find the closest, most cost effective option, pending city council approval. It will also allow them to reserve spots in downtown garages.
The service will eventually provide public transportation schedules and tickets.
