Several restaurants in the Detroit area have introduced robotic waiters as an efficient alternative to human employees, according to a Detroit Free Press article.

Pho-Shi, a newly opened Asian fusion restaurant in Troy, offers a robotic server that glides across the floor serenading diners with classical music and delivers orders to tables. Once the order is delivered, the guest taps the screen to send the robot back to the register.

Noodle Topia in Madison Heights recently introduced Bella, a robotic server that resembles a cat.

Kura Sushi, a Japan based restaurant featuring a revolving conveyor belt that delvers sushi, has a U.S. subsidiary, Kura Shushi USA, with locations in Novi and Troy. Kura Sushi offers touchscreen check-in device, digital toy dispensers, a tableside ordering system and a water channel running underneath the conveyor belt to transports dirty dishes to a restaurant's dishwashing area.

Wayne State University in Detroit has teamed with Starship Technologies to deliver mobile orders from six fast-casual restaurants to students on campus via an autonomous robot.
