North Idaho Dermatology recently deployed Clearwave Corporation's patient registration system and check-in kiosks. Upon implementing the system, the practice has seen its average check-in time drop to two minutes per patient, according to the press release.
"The addition of Clearwave's solution cut the time it takes to register a patient by 50 percent. This gave our staff more time to spend with the patients and has reduced the overall patient wait-time before seeing the doctor," said Grant Ely, chief operating officer, North Idaho Dermatology. "With these results, we've been able to add 1-2 additional patients per day, per doctor, while still maintaining our shorter wait-time."
Clearwave's system is designed to integrate with many different health care systems such as Allscripts, Athena, Greenway, GE and others. When the customer inputs data from their driver's license and insurance cards, the kiosk uses optical character recognition to eliminate typos.
"The response from the patients in this case says it all; over 70 percent of their patients prefer to use the kiosk because it reduces their amount of paperwork they need to complete, making the check-in process fast and easy. It works, and patients notice that," said Eric Anderson, chief operating officer, Clearwave.
The practice also added a question on the kiosk for new customers to ask them how they found out about the practice. This will allow the company to figure out the overall effectiveness of its marketing efforts, according to the release.
