DermaScan develops screening tool to protect facilities from COVID-19

November 11, 2020

DermaScan, which designs temperature screening hardware and software using infrared thermometer technology that can act independently or integrate with other devices that are used during business operations such as turnstiles and security doors, has enabled a number of businesses and governments to identify potential illnesses and irregularities in patron and employee temperature, according to a press release.

DermaScan's technology has enabled worksites to document people that pass through facilities for screening current health, to inform in the event of an outbreak or breach, to be proactive during any uncertain government ordinances, and to combat any liability factors that would come from business operations during the pandemic.

The first versions of this technology for many overseas companies were pieced together or as an attachment to a device instead of being hardwired as one system and refined to create consistency and reliability in facial recognition and identification for businesses, according to Shane Rose, DermaScan CEO.

DermaScan figured out a way to design and deploy a system that can be roughly around a third of the cost other providers offered to ensure businesses and companies can afford to add this to their strategy without the cost taking much of any revenue or money received from the PPP, EIDL or the Cares Act stimulus.
