Dermalog honored for secure, efficient self-service registration

Dermalog Identification Systems GmbH has received the German Innovation Award 2025 from the German Design Council for its Self Registration Kiosk, which features the integrated all-in-one VF1 scanner, according to a press release. The award recognizes the system's contributions to digital security and streamlined enrollment processes.

The Self Registration Kiosk is a compact solution designed to integrate all steps of a biometric registration process. Central to the system is the VF1 scanner, which the company states is the only device globally capable of capturing both fingerprints and ID documents using a single scanning surface. An intelligent camera system for facial image capture complements this.

"Our goal was to develop a solution that makes the registration process more convenient, faster and more secure for everyone involved," Günther Mull, Dermalog CEO, said in the release. "With the Self Registration Kiosk, we offer a state-of-the-art platform for digital identity verification that enhances user convenience while significantly streamlining workflows."

The kiosk aims to reduce manual processing, accelerate registration and ensure accurate and spoof-resistant capture of identity documents and biometric features in an effort to assist in the fight against identity fraud.
