ATLANTA -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) is offering its SkyMiles members an extra incentive to check in at any of the more than 400 Delta kiosks currently offered in 81 U.S. airports.
Between Feb. 15 and May 15, SkyMiles members will receive a one-time bonus of 500 miles the first time they use a self-service kiosk to check in for their flight.
And, for each additional kiosk check-in after that, a bonus of 100 miles will be awarded, up to a maximum of five additional bonuses during the promotional period. The offer is available to all SkyMiles members, including those who have used kiosks before.
SkyMiles members can earn a total maximum bonus of 1,000 miles, according to a news release.
According to a recent Atlanta Journal-Constitution report, Delta is retooling its check-in system by expanding its use of kiosks and adding phone banks connected to reservations agents.
Delta plans to spend up to $30 million in 2003 remaking lobbies and concourses at the 81 airports that handle 90 percent of its passengers. As part of the effort, Delta will double its number of check-in kiosks to 800.
