MEQUON, Wis. - The first-ever Internet-connected bus stop kiosk has been installed in San Francisco. D2 Sales created the kiosk for Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Yahoo! to celebrate its newly launched search offering, Yahoo! Local.
Consumers in San Francisco can search the Web and experience Yahoo! Local at the kiosk. Yahoo! Local interactive bus stops soon will launch in Los Angeles and New York.
The custom kiosks feature 42-inch plasma screens, stainless steel keyboards and thermal printers housed in a weather-resistant, secure steel and plastic enclosure. The unit also features a lighted overhead sign, scrolling ticker, local map graphics and a doorbell that plays the Yahoo! yodel when pressed.
The kiosk software and remote monitoring is provided by Nanonation of Lincoln, Neb.
