Robert Gallner has taken over as acting president and chief executive officer at Cybertotems, a kiosk maker with headquarters in Cooper City, Fla. and offices in Portugal and Brazil.
He replaces Shawn R. Proffitt, who resigned as president, effective July 31. In another management change, John Miller has moved from his position as chief executive officer to a new role as a company consultant. Another two employees were released, Gallner said.
Gallner, who had served as vice president of marketing for the company, said in an exclusive interview with KIOSKmarketplace.com that the personnel moves are part of a restructuring initiated by Cybertotems' financial backers. One of those backers is Immediata, headquartered in Porto, Portugal.
"The company has gone through an internal restructuring," Gallner said. "Part of the restructuring is to concentrate on sales and marketing, to develop new accounts, new channels and more partnerships,"
Gallner said the Cybertotems' kiosk manufacturing and programming operations are based in Portugal, and that the company is moving a programmer and a consultant to the company's Florida office to help ease communication between locations.
"To accomplish our goals, we need a better European representation here," he said.
Though Gallner admitted that the changes were not easy, he remained optimistic about the company's future.
"I feel the kiosk market is in its infancy," he said. "We're very excited about what's coming down the pike."
Cybertotems manufactures a line of kiosks and designs multimedia applications. In the U.S. its designs have been used in casinos and at the National Press Club.
