CTS Healthcare to deploy kiosks to smaller hospitals

The company has developed a middleware solution to help its kiosks connect to smaller healthcare organizations' record systems.

February 18, 2016

Kiosk manufacturer CTS Healthcare Services has announced it will be deploying its check-in kiosks to smaller and mid-sized healthcare organizations. The company plans to do this after it unveils its new check-in solution Kwerk at healthcare IT trade show HIMSS16, according to areportby Healthcare IT News.

Currently CTS has achieved 200 million patient check-ins on its kiosks, thanks mainly to its ease of integration with hospital records system Epic, the company said. According to CTS, more than 95 percent of healthcare organizations that use Epic's Welcome patient check-in component also use CTS kiosks.

However, CTS found that many smaller organizations use different record keeping systems, so the company developed the middleware Kwerk to allow its kiosks to communicate with their records.

"We've found a lot of potential customers with an interest in deploying check-in solutions but without the appropriate middleware piece that allows kiosks to talk to their EHRs," said Sandy Nix, president and CEO, CTS. "So we developed Kwerk, which will talk to not only the EHRs in larger facilities but also serve as a bundled product we can offer the mid-market so potential customers at that level can have healthcare-proven hardware and high-quality patient check-in software solutions in an affordable package."
