Counseling center to roll out mental health kiosk

May 16, 2016

The Center for Counseling & Consultation plans to deploy its new mental health screening tablet kiosks in Great Bend, Kansas, on May 20. Users can take a test on the kiosk to screen for generalized anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and other issues, according to a report by Great Bend Tribune

The organization purchased the kiosks with funds from the Improving Health in Rural Counties Grant. The kiosk is designed to provide anonymous screenings to improve the chance of users answering the questions honestly.

The kiosk asks questions that screen for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress, eating and alcohol abuse disorders. Upon completing the survey, users are given resources for additional help and various hotlines such as the suicide prevention hotline.

The kiosk also offers a Spanish translation, and will give a link to users who wish to take the survey from the privacy of their own home, according to the report.
