The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, which leverages expertise between the Department of Energy and the Department of Transportation to improve zero-emission transportation infrastructure, has launched the National Charging Experience Consortium, an effort by Department of Energy national laboratories to develop solutions that ensure a reliable and frictionless charging experience for all Americans, according to a press release.

As part of the consortium, Argonne National Laboratory, Idaho National Laboratory and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory will collaborate with organizations representing a cross section of the EV charging industry on issues that require multi-stakeholder collaboration.

"The national labs provide the independent expertise needed to fix the most challenging, systemic problems that can impact the customer charging experience," consortium director John Smart of Idaho National Lab said in the release.

The group has commitments from the following organizations: ABB E-mobility, ampUp, Blink Charging, BMW of North America, BTC Power, Chargepoint, ChargerHelp!, Cool the Earth, Electric Power Research Institute, Electrify America, Energetics, EV Connect, EVgo, Flo, Ford Motor Co., Francis Energy, General Motors, InCharge Energy, J.D. Power & Associates, KIGT, New York Power Authority, Plug in America, Rivian Automotive, SAE Sustainable Mobility Solutions, Siemens, Stellantis, Switch, Tesla and Tritium.
