CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Kronos Incorporated (Nasdaq: KRON) has released Version 4.3 of its flagship Workforce Central suite, which it says incorporates new features designed to help organizations better manage labor data and reduce labor costs.
According to Peter George, Kronos chief technology officer, the enhancements address IT preferences for broader support for entering and tracking employee time from desktops or kiosks.
A new HTML client complements Kronos' existing Java-based Web user interface, according to a news release. "The industry trend for Web applications is a mixture of HTML and plug-in technology in the browser environment -- HTML for light users and Java applets for power users," said George in the release.
Workforce Central also addresses IT's desire for a variety of deployment options, including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, IBM DB2, and both Microsoft and UNIX based servers. Kronos added further support for the Oracle 9i database and DB2 on OS/390.
The new release also has expanded business rules to cover pay policies such as flex time, core hours and personal overtime. New features focus on enforcing compliance with corporate policies when signing off on timecards and overtime approval, eliminating errors before payroll is run.
