Colorado senate votes to allow prescription vending machines

Prescription vending machines moved closer to reality in Colorado Wednesday as the state senate unanimously passed a bill to allow pharmacies to use the machines, according to a coloradopolitics.com report.

Under House Bill 1195, prescription vending machines could operate outside of regular pharmacy hours at hospitals, clinics or pharmacies.

Patients will provide their prescription and interact virtually with a pharmacist via video at the machine before picking up their medication.

The state house passed the bill earlier this month.

The bill now goes to the governor for signing.
