In an effort to reduce wait times and improve air quality, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is proposing the implementation of self-service kiosks for emissions testing. These kiosks would allow drivers to conduct on-board diagnostics emissions tests 24/7, eliminating the need for traditional testing centers, according to a Fox 31 report.
The self-service kiosks would be available in several locations across the Front Range area, impacting owners of gas-powered vehicles in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson, Larimer and Weld counties.
Drivers expressed enthusiasm for the proposed changes, with one individual stating, "That would be fantastic. It would save a lot of time," according to the news outlet.
The department will hold a public engagement meeting on September 21, from 10 a.m. to noon, to address questions and gather feedback on the proposed rule changes.
