Hartford (Conn.) Courant: A spelling error ended a spree in which three men used fake Coinstar receipts to steal about $5,000 from Connecticut supermarkets, police say. Coinstar maintains self-service sorting machines in stores; customers pour in loose change and get receipts to turn in for cash. Three men now face larceny and forgery charges for creating a fake company to buy color inks to get around the company's counterfeiting system. The men were caught when a Big Y employee in Plainville noticed a receipt with the word "food" mispelled with three O's.
