Coinstar, a coin-counting kiosk manufacturer, has announced the launch of a new campaign to help fight blood cancers. This September, users can donate their spare change to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, according to a press release.
This campaign is part of Coinstar's "Coins that Count," campaign. Coinstar customers donated more than $10 million last year to LLS. Customers can donate this year at select kiosks without paying a fee.
The LLS will use donations to develop better treatments and discover cures, according to the press release.
"Every three minutes, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with a blood cancer, and more than 1.2 million people in the U.S. are living with or in remission from a blood cancer," Louis J. DeGennaro, Ph.D., president and CEO, Coinstar, said in the release. "Despite progress, more than one third of patients do not survive five years after their diagnosis. That's why we're so pleased to be working with Coinstar during Blood Cancer Awareness Month, to raise awareness for the urgent need to find cures and ensure that patients have access to lifesaving treatments."
Coinstar users can also donate to other charities including the American Red Cross, Feeding America, The Humane Society and more.
