OAK RIDGE, N.C. - The Bank of Oak Ridge is collecting coin donations using Money-Go-Round coin counters, according to a news release. The Money-Go-Rounds, which can count up to 700 coins a minute, are located in the lobby of the bank's two offices. Users put loose change into the machine's coin tray, push the start button and receive a receipt. The receipt is used for cash, deposit or donation to the local United Way.
There is no charge to use the Money-Go-Round coin counters. Similar coin counting machines charge a fee of up to nine percent to count change. Bank of Oak Ridge is the only bank in its area to offer free access self-service coin counting machines. The machines introduce children to important money-saving concepts and re-establish the tradition of taking coins to the local bank for counting.
