Cocoa Beach police taps Mesh Networks technology

CommsDesign - Mesh Networks Inc has won a contract, along with integration partner Scientel America Inc., to outfit the police department of the City of Cocoa Beach, Fla. with mobile broadband services. Because the mesh infrastructure can be used with Layer 2 or 3 Virtual Private Networks, or with software firewalls, secure public-safety applications can co-exist with general municipal applications for transportation or civil services. For example, Portsmouth has extended its networks to include transportation kiosks with full Internet access, to alert citizens to bus schedules, as well as control of overhead signs for Portsmouth's ferry system.
