Nio, a China-based EV carmaker, will install battery swapping stations where drivers can switch their battery for one that is fully-charged at 20 parks in Germany owned EnBW, a utility provider, according to a Reuters report.
Nio plans to place 120 swapping stations in Europe in 2023, having opened its first German swapping station in Germany in September in collaboration with Sortimo, a charging operator, and TSG, a mobility technology provider.
EnBW will invest more than 100 million euros ($105.26 million) annually to expand EV charging infrastructure, including swapping stations in partnership with Nio.
