MIAMI - A $200 million investment by Chilean airline LanChilefeatures an on-board entertainment system and airport check-in using kiosks.
The LanExpress service allows passengers to purchase tickets online or via automated check-in kiosks at many South American airports. The airline has purchased several newAirbus A320 aircraft on which it has installed an entertainment system. Six planes will include the system, which features a dozen audio channels and laptop terminals at each seat. Entertainment options include video clips from popular culture, such as reruns of Baywatch and a special on actor Kevin Costner.
The new airport terminals, similar to ATM machines, features touchscreen and accept LanChile frequent flyer cards for flight check-ins. The machines also print out boarding passes.
Based in Santiago, LanChile is the largest airline in Chile.
