MIAMI - A $200 million investment by Chilean airline LanChilefeatures an on-board entertainment system and airport check-in using kiosks.
The LanExpress service allows passengers to purchase tickets online or via automated check-in kiosks at many South American airports. The airline has purchased several new Airbus A320 aircraft on which it has installed an entertainment system. Six planes will include the system, which features a dozen audio channels and laptop terminals at each seat. Entertainment options include video clips from popular culture, such as reruns of Baywatch and a special on actor Kevin Costner.
The new airport terminals, similar to ATM machines, features touchscreen and accept LanChile frequent flyer cards for flight check-ins. The machines also print out boarding passes.
Based in Santiago, LanChile is the largest airline in Chile.
