A Chicago Walgreens now requires customers to order "non-essential" items from kiosks and pick them up at a counter, according to a WBBM Newsradio report.

The store at Roosevelt and State streets in downtown Chicago has been redesigned to include anti-theft devices for non-essential items and two shelves for "essentials" protected by anti-theft devices where they can shop on their own.

The "anti-theft" store was designed in response to rising theft.

A Walgreens spokesperson said the store is a test.
