Changi Airport trials self-service technology

June 4, 2014

Singapore’s Changi Airport has launched a self-service pilot in its departure halls. With Jetstar Asia as its airline partner, the airport is trialing self-check-in, self-luggage tagging and self-bag-drop stations, Travel Daily Media reports.

During the trial, which will last until August 2014, Changi will gather feedback from passengers, the publication said.

As part of the FAST@Changi project, two self-bag-drop units and four self-check-in kiosks have been deployed alongside the standard Jetstar check-in counters in Changi’s Terminal 1, according to Travel Daily Media. Using these facilities, passengers can check in, and print their boarding pass and baggage tags. After tagging their baggage, they can leave it at the bag-drop counter.
