RENO, NV--Yahoo!News reports that the Peppermill Reno Hotel Casino in Reno, NV is offering patrons the ability to place bets on sporting events, futures or horse races, from convenient self-serve terminals. The kiosks, from Computerized Bookmaking Systems, Inc. have easy to use touchscreens that let customers use cash or paper cash vouchers. The machine also tracks the person's play.
Wagers made from the self-serve terminals have the same odds as bets placed directly at the race and sports book counter. When wagering with cash, some people are surprised when the machine announces that it must take their photograph. There is no reason to worry though; it's a Gaming Control Board requirement for facial recognition. Once "identified" a player can start to wager.
After a bet is made, a ticket is printed. The customer can then elect to use any left over credits in the machine to make further wagers or they can simply cash out and receive a voucher for later use.
