A new self-service patient kiosk developed by The Shams Group and MTS Healthcare promises to reduce wait time for patient check-in, new patient registration and appointment scheduling, and also improve cashflow, according to an announcement from TSG and MTS.
The kiosk was developed for Horsham, Pennsylvania-based NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, a provider of healthcare information systems and connectivity solutions, which is owned by Quality Systems.
Dallas-based health care technology firm TSG partnered with Pasadena, California-based health care IT service and technology consulting firm MTS to integrate TSG’s freestanding iPad Patient Kiosk with NextGen’s Ambulatory Electronic Health Record. TSG and MTS are marketing the TSG Patient kiosk on behalf of NextGen.
MTS supports cloud-based applications on the iPad Kiosk, which are accessed via an Internet-based Web browser. The kiosk maintains privacy of Electronic Health Records, offers multiple language options and includes automated insurance eligibility verification as well as online access from home via a secure website. MTS said the TSG Patient kiosk streamlines the patient registration process and reduces the cost of registration.
“The kiosk will allow practices to collect co-pay and patient balances prior to seeing the provider, which has a major impact on cash flow,” MTS CEO and co-founder James Deck said in the announcement. “Allowing patients to enter their own clinical histories increases automation.”
The kiosk can capture forms with signatures, driver's license images or other documents to complete a patient’s profile. The system also allows providers to track the number of registered patients waiting for service and ensure the accuracy of patient information.
“The kiosk is the next generation of smart software specifically targeting healthcare,” Zia Shams, TSG’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “As more healthcare providers make the transition to IT systems, the TSG Kiosk Solution will transform patient experience, and make data collection and documentation easier than ever.”
