When a car accident left 5-year-old Deontay Isaac a quadriplegic, her new limitations made the active child depressed and irritable. Too young for school and too ill to leave intensive care, there was little she could do during the long days. The Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children, where she was being treated, enrolled her in the art therapy program, which worked well, if slowly.
