Residents of Carson City, Nevada can now check out books at the library at four self-check kiosks for hands-free or limited touch operation to help to curb the number of touches taking place, according to a carsonnow.org report.
Cardholders scan their library card and the items which have RFID tags, then select a printed or emailed receipt. The kiosks also accept payment for fines or fees.
The kiosks are disinfected after each use.
The technology was made possible through recently awarded CARES Act funds.
