JOHANNESBURG, South Africa -- The Canadian Alliance for Business in South Africa (CABSA), which identifies joint ventures in both established and emerging business sectors in South Africa and matches them with Canadian partners, has helped facilitate an agreement between South African kiosk designer Majorshelf 62 (Pty) Ltd.and Canadian software developer Atlas Micronet Inc.
According to a news release, the agreement gives Majorshelf an exclusive South African license for Atlas Micronet's SurfTime software, which enables pay-per-use Internet access on kiosks. The agreement also covers hardware, joint marketing, training and support.
Majorshelf designs, programs and manufactures tourism information kiosks and tourism database CDs, as well as customized information kiosks. According to the release, Majorshelf's Mrinfo kiosks are located at some Engen 1-Stop petrol stations across South Africa, as well as other tourist destinations.
Majorshelf has also developed customized kiosks for the KZN Department of Health, the Municipality of George and University of Port Elizabeth, among other clients.
Atlas Micronet's Surftime software will enable Mrinfo kiosk users to surf the Internet or use standard word processing or spreadsheet programs, in addition to browsing maps and accessing tourism information. Customers can use a credit card, purchase a prepaid card or deposit currency to pay for the amount of time they want to be online, according to the release.
