Canadian hospital rolls out self-registration kiosks

Canada-based Health Sciences North is rolling out self-registration kiosks, developed bySlabb Inc, in one hospital in Sudbury, Canada, to improve patient experiences. Health Sciences North plans to test the overall effectiveness of the kiosks in the diabetes, bariatric and nutrition counseling clinics, according to areport by CBC News.

Currently, the hospital has installed two kiosks that can be used by registered patients who arrive for a scheduled appointment.

"Over the past two weeks approximately one-third of our patients have registered using the kiosks," said Sandra Duhamel, director decision support and reporting of Health Sciences North, in a release. "The kiosks are relatively simple and convenient to use, and allow patients to move smoothly through the first step of their appointment."
