California town to install parking kiosks

San Bruno, California plans to install 84 parking kiosks for its downtown and surrounding area and will hire LAZ Parking, a Hartford, Connecticut parking services provider, to service the spaces, according to a report in The Daily Journal.

The city council approved the $2.5 million plan which will cover five years of service.

The kiosks will require the customer to input their driver license and will accept coin, credit card and a mobile app payments.

The kiosks will allow the city to set parking rates by zone or time.

The city could boost its current $55,000 in monthly parking citations by 130% in the first year.
