The Downtown Chico Business Association in Chico, California has teamed with the city to launch a four-week "concierge" program starting Monday to address concerns about the new parking kiosks, according to a chicoer.com report.

The kiosks require users to enter the license plate number, choose the amount of time and pay with a credit card, debit card or coins.

Motorists have complained about the inconvenience and the complication. Hence, the merchants — along with the DCBA, asked to meet with city officials to discuss the matter.

Some motorist have objected to the 35-cent "convenience fee" for using payment cards considering the minimum parking fee is 25 cents for 15 minutes.

Chico City Manager Mark Sorensen said he'd discuss the fee with the city council.
