California horse racing board approves new sites for self-service wagering

Standardbred Canada: The number of places to wager on horse racing could grow under new regulations adopted by the California Horse Racing Board. A new application process allows for an increase in the state from 34 to 45 "minisatellite" locations, which rely on self-service machines for wagering. New eligible sites include sports bars, card clubs and other existing businesses where customers frequently gather, not just racetracks, certain tribal casinos, district agricultural associations and fairs that previously were the only authorized gambling sites.
